The scallop is a symbol of French gastronomy. Every April, the coasts of Brittany and Normandy host a regional event, the Scallop Festival, celebrating the end of the fishing season for this shellfish.

As for clams, they are beloved by Italians, especially in their famous pasta alle vongole, which have also conquered French tables. They are often found in the baskets of shore fishermen, well-equipped with boots and a scraper to harvest them from the mud.
